Es hat wohl niemand erwartet, dass David Montgomery sich von einer Heuschrecke über Nacht in eine nützlichere Lebensform verwandelt hätte, als er 2005 den Berliner Verlag übernahm und in blumigen Worten seine Pläne für die Zeit nach der Übernahme beschrieb. Eher lag der Verdacht nahe, dass er für das Interview Kreide gefressen hatte.

Die Chronistenpflicht gebietet es nun darauf hinzuweisen, dass die blumige Rede von "Umsatzsteigerung durch organisches Wachstum" und "Investitionen in die technische Infrastruktur" und vor allem von "bezüglich der Rendite keine Zielvorgaben" ganz offensichtlich und ungeschminkt nach zwei Jahren Makulatur ist.
